Story@Home Conference Update – March 9 – 10, 2012

by Camille on March 1, 2012

I tell you what… Utah is the place to be for learning!  If you haven’t heard already, March 9 - 10, 2012 mark the days of the Story@Home Conference sponsored by CherishBound, and FamilySearch.  During these two days, you will have the opportunity to listen to keynote speakers and attend individual classes relating to blogging, storytelling, and Family History.

Not only will it be a hub-bub of knowledge and inspiration thanks to the presenters, but the environment will also contribute to the amazing experience as well.  Located downtown Salt Lake City, UT, the conference events and classes will take place in the massive LDS Conference Center and the historical Joseph Smith Memorial Center.

A couple of highlights you’ll want to check out for the conference:

  • Story@Home will feature iTell, a comfortable lounge with a professional videographer who will record your 15-minute story.  They will have interview questions and topic ideas on hand if you’d like to tell your own story, or you can snag your conference buddy and interview her (and maybe even learn something new).  You can receive a disk of the session right then and there or receive an MP3 version after the conference.  And it’s FREE with your conference ticket!  Check out the link above for more info and to reserve your spot now!
  • Friday night will feature some creative talent – first with the performance of The Lower Lights (a group of talented singers featuring my favorite – Mindy Gledhill) followed by the “Family Story Slam“.  From the explanation of it, it sounds like it’s a karaoke-style, improv open-mic, allowing conference attendees to share personal stories that will have you rolling in the aisles.
  • Who Do You Think You Are?  Just how much family history HAVE you done?  Sure, you probably know some names on your pedigree chart, but have you really researched all the information available to you?  FamilySearch has made accessible over 1 billions names onto digital records from microfilm and other archaic forms of family history to make it easier for us! Check out this video to find out more information.

(These aren’t my ancestors, but it sure looks like they’re anxious for their posterity to claim them!)

All in all, for just $79, one receives 2 days of: education, inspiration, jubilation, socialization, realization…. and fun (ization?).

See you there!
