We’ve had some excitement in the past couple of days! That new addition I mentioned in a previous post? Allow me to introduce you to Trixie: our new Chevy Traverse (for a month, anyway).
All the cars in my family have had names:
My dad’s 1941 Chevy = Bessie
The family car 1977 Dodge Monaco of a tuna boat = Mona (RIP)
Our 12-passenger van years past = “The Party Wagon”
And so it goes. It’s the right of passage. Vehicles that are welcomed into our family have always had personalities and a past. Never do we drive brand new vehicles, fresh from the dealer, or with mileage less than 4 digits.
Except one time – right after I graduated from high school, I had saved up enough money (from working at the Burger Bar) to afford a decent down payment for a vehicle with fairly low payments. I fell in love with a brand new 2-door compact car – manual transmission, kauai blue color, rear spoiler. I wrote my check for a down payment, signed the next 5 years of my life away, and drove that sweet vehicle off the dealer’s lot, and into my driveway. Then I got into the old family car and drove to work, nervous to take my new wheels anywhere on public roads. My siblings still tease me about the towels on the floors and seats, and bubble-wrapping my passengers before they even opened the doors.
And that’s exactly how I feel about this gorgeous vehicle!! Chevrolet has asked me and three other bloggers to participate in a promotional event, during which we each receive a fully loaded, fresh-off-the-line Chevy Traverse or Malibu for a month, and are to share about our experiences.
The event launched September 14, at the KSL Studio in Salt Lake City, where we were introduced to our new vehicles, and participating dealers from the Rocky Mountain Chevy Dealers who filled us in on all the bells and whistles.
Then our TELEVISION DEBUT! And lucky me, I was the “spokesperson” for the group.
Nothing like talking on local TV, LIVE, with an orthodontic lisp.
I’ll be blogging about our adventures here on my blog, and on Chevy’s blog. So please feel free to follow along. And by visiting their site, you can enter to win a fabulous giveaway!
Disclaimer: I have been given a 2011 Chevy Traverse on a temporary basis, for review purposes, provided by the Rocky Mountain Chevy Dealers. As part of the Chevy Moms Time Out program, we will be sent on particular “missions”, and given gift cards to complete said missions. We will be expected to blog and vlog about our personal and honest opinions. Nothing I share will be influenced by Chevrolet.
