This giveaway is CLOSED: Jenny Karr is the winner of the culinary cooking class.
“Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime…”
…an old Chinese Proverb with a valuable message. But does it hold true with cupcakes?
Thanksgiving Point and Sara Voortmeyer seem to think so!
I was invited, along with the Utah Mamas of the Todays Mama writing staff to attend one of Thanksgiving Point’s cooking classes, held in their lavish and coveted (by me especially) Emporium kitchen.
Sara Voortmeyer, the former head pastry chef from the Tuscany restaurant, conducted this 2-hour class by sharing tips and tricks while mixing, baking, and frosting 5 different flavors of her homemade, made-from-scratch cupcakes.
A very casual, open, “comments-and-questions-welcomed” setting, this class opened my eyes to the secrets behind these highly addicting baked goods, and how I could create my own – in my own home, at my own convenience! What a concept!
For example, did you know?:
* For baked goods, all ingredients must be room temperature before adding to mix.
* For pastries, all ingredients must be refrigerated before mixing.
Oh, you did? Well, they don’t share that kind of stuff on the back of a Becky Crocker cake mix box! My whole baking world has shifted.
Thanksgiving Point, located in Lehi, UT, offers a variety of culinary classes, including Italian Cooking, Summer Entertaining, or Cooking with Kids.
Do you want to attend one??
Thanksgiving Point is GIVING AWAY a culinary class of your choice ($40 value) to one of my readers.
TO ENTER: Leave a comment here telling me which one you would attend if you could.
