Admission to the local zoo: $8 each
2 nights stay in a local hotel: $200
Opportunity for a family stay-cation: Worth every penny spent
Documenting the memories made: Priceless
P.S. I don’t wear make up on vacation
Some of my favorite memories as a child are from family vacations. With 8 children, our parents couldn’t afford luxurious family getaways like a cruise, a week on a tropical island, or sometimes even dinner at the local JB’s restaurant.
Many of our vacations were road trips, everyone piling into the “Party Wagon” (12-passenger van) with a makeshift bed at the very back for sleep breaks or playing card games. (sidenote: seat belt laws weren’t as tight way back then.) Dad would keep the cassette tape collection up front and we’d all sing along to the Everly Brothers, Kingston Trio, or Don McLean (all from his era, not mine). Mom put together travelling packages of treats, activities, and games for each child, but we weren’t allowed to open it until we “got on the freeway”.
Now, with my own little family, we carry on the traditions of family vacations, so I cash in some vacation days at work, and if money is tight, we spend our “vacations” in our local downtown. It seem that really, all the girls want to do is swim, so the pool takes priority in selecting the hotel. And for a change of scenery, we ditch the car and use the public transportation to get to places of entertainment and food. It’s something fun the girls love to do, and we get to see our city from a different perspective.
Vacations = perfect for creating memories.
Cherish Bound = perfect for documenting those memories
Cherish Bound has a series for little kids called “the Story Dailies”, with story starters that get the kids thinking and talking.
The Vacation Dailies come with 16 Story Leafs. Each Story Leaf provides simple questions that allow your kids (and you) to throw down some ideas and offers a fun way to preserve their memories as they happen.
Plus, you get to know your child on a new level: What they like/dislike about their vacation; favorite activities; favorite place to travel, etc.
This is just one product offered by Cherish Bound. Check out their website for more products that help preserve the memories of yours, and loved ones.
Right now, Cherish Bound is offering the “story club” membership for a discounted price, which gives you an account for Cherish Bound products, including story starters and finalized, published picture books. Watch this video to learn more. Then click on this link to get started.

adorable pictures of you and your girls. It looks like they had so much fun. Stay-cations are much less stressful than long road trips. It’s fun that your girls are as different from each other as mine are

This sounds perfect! Adam and I did a weekend getaway to Park City. Only 20 minutes away, but it’s a change of scenery. And I don’t wear makeup on vacation either.

The party wagon? I love it! I am the youngest of 11 kids so I know how that “party wagon” thing goes. I loved the whole no seat belt thing growing up, laying all over the place in the family suburban.
I have been wanting to have a staycation down town, it sounds so fun!

What a great mom you are. Even to this day I love taking trips big or small with my kids and wonderful friends. Making memories is what it’s all about.
