Call me a lazy parent, or unprepared, but at times for our Family Nights, I put Ad in charge of the lesson. And more times than not, she is usually jumping at the chance to share a little something she has prepared. Of course, her lessons always require visual objects including the chalkboard, some pictures, and anything else that is within her reach. Tonight, the lesson started off with a guessing game. “C8, who is this person that I’ve drawn on the chalkboard?”

“Mommy?”
“Noooo…”
“Grandma?”
“Noooo…”
“Grandpa?”
“Noooo… I’ll give you a hint:” (and shows the following picture – displayed on her feet)

Of course! Why didn’t we see the resemblance? Why C8 thought Mommy and Grandma had a beard is beyond me, but a stick figure drawn in chalk IS hard to make out details. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. Ad did a fabulous job explaining to C8 that “Jesus made… (looking around the room)… “this couch, these Easter eggs, Mommy’s keys, this chalkboard, and YOU!” I think she definitely made up for our “calling in sick” yesterday to our church.
And to complete the evening, we had to make treats. The only requirements were brownies, which put us in luck! One of my favorite bloggers had posted a recipe I wanted to try out, which we did, and LOVED! I highly recommend these brownies. (And her blog. She makes me smile every time I visit!)
Just make sure you have plenty of eggs on hand. And a tall glass of ice cold milk to wash it (them) down with!

Jacob gave the same FHE lesson a few weeks ago!
Ad has a way of presentation. Perhaps she could be a guest teacher in your Primary class!

Oh, too cute! Our seven year old gave FHE last night. It was a spur of the moment thing and was the BEST lesson EVER. I said, “where did you come up with this idea?” and he said, “I just totally made it up. Like, right now I made it up!”
He told us it was a lesson on talents. That talents were like a seed God put in your heart and if you used them it would grow and grow. Then, we each had to share a talent. His? Flips on the trampoline. Seriously. I love FHE when the kids are in charge. So cute!
And, so loving that the brownies worked for you! Hurrah! Thanks for letting me know! Enjoy!

I knew right away. Only because it is far better artwork than I can do.

Out of the mouths of Babes. I love when children teach. Their hearts are so pure and uncluttered. They get to the heart of the matter.

What a great way for her to learn to teach! It’s not lazy. It’s teaching leadership skills.
Those brownies look decadent. I love Cheeky Kitchen. My favorite cookie recipe came from her.

OH….There isn’t a better FHE lesson than a one from a small child!! I got a kick out of all the gathering she did to present her lesson. Chalkboard-pictures….visual aids. She sees what efforts her mom and teachers put into their church callings. GOOD JOB MOM!!
Thanks for sharing the brownie recipe. I LOVE new brownie recipes.
Have a great day.
