When I think of the word “create”, I immediately think of my friends Quinn, Michelle, Pamela, and Kitty, and fellow bloggers Becca, Kari, Marie, and Melissa who actually make things that serve as proof of their “creativity”.
And because of that mindset, I would never categorize myself as “creative”. I can definitely appreciate the result of others’ creations, follow a recipe, or make something using a pattern or stencil, but very rarely – emphasis on the rarely – and the very – am I the first to think of an innovative idea.
After watching this clip “Create” by Dieter F. Uchtdorf (I love that man), I’ve changed my interpretation of “creative”. It’s only 2 minutes long. Take those couple of minutes to watch it and I guarantee your perspective will change as well!

Love this video! I have it in the sidebar on my site. One of my faves of all time!
I know…is this not the sweetest message. I love how you can go to the church website and download these great messages. We use them in RS allot. LOVE THEM! Not to mention, aren’t we blessed to have such wise leaders.

I love Mormon Messages. And I think you’re very creative!
I love this clip. Makes you want to be a better person right? Thanks for the reminder.
Love that message from Pres. Uchtdorf. You ARE creative!
I absolutely LOVE that video. It reminds me that just because I can’t turn a pile of pipe cleaners and tissue paper into art that I am still creative.
That was one of my favorite talks ever. And that video really captures the message so well.
I love the message that creativity is not just craftiness.
Love this one…and wanna know a secret? I don’t make 10% of what I feature on Ucreate {GASP!}
I am super busy and when I have time I will sit down and make something. My sis Becky is always creating and she said to me the other day, “Kari, my blog should be icreate.”
I tell Becky I’m good at finding the ideas but not creating ideas…thus the name “U”create because sometimes “I” sure don’t! lol
Pish -posh we are all creative. I have heard you say this a few times and it is just not true.
That being said, Uchtdorf: is one creative man.
I LOVE this video. It is true, we all create in different ways. Like my friend told me, “I’m so creative, I make people.” Love it!
We are totally ALL “creative” in life… you crack me up. I loved this video, too. Sooooo awesome and inspiring every time I watch it! Just wrote about the “creativity complex” on Wasatch Woman’s blog: http://wasatchwoman.com/blogs.php?cont=post&id=302
To often we believe creativity is associated with things. What about ideas, strategies, and solutions. I am sure you use your creativity every day at work, you just don’t have something tangible to show for it. Sometimes it is hard to recognize the creativity in yourself. I know it took a long time for me too. And if all else fails, my personal motto is, “Copy the best, Invent the rest”. Haha.
