My kind of field trip!

by Camille on February 24, 2010

Remember back in the day when your preschool class or elementary school class went on “field trips” to see how things worked behind the scenes?  I still remember a jaunt we took to McDonalds!  I was amazed that they used real pancake batter and made their egg McMuffin sandwiches by cracking and cooking  REAL eggs!  See? informative.

I believe in field trips – especially with your children.  They need to learn how the finer things in life function in the world, and it’s best they learn it from you – their parent!

So, last week, I took Ad and C8 on our first informative outing – to learn how donuts are made!

Personally, this is my favorite part of the entire conveyor belt process. Oh, if I were a donut…

Contrary to what many of you may be thinking (and what it looks like), I was not trying to take her donut. :)

This totally make me want a doughnut! Is there a Krispy Kreme in SL valley?

I think there was one in Fort Union area. My KK instincts are telling me it’s no longer there… :(

Ugggg….. now I won’t be able to rest until I have a doughnut… sooooooo yummy looking! And I LOVE Krispy Kremes! What a fun idea to take the kids on field trips; I am inspired to try to do the same!

I still have to take my kids there. We’ve never been even for a doughnut, let alone a fun tour. Sure hope you got your own doughnut to munch on. :)

Has anyone been to Beyond Glaze in Draper? I’m headed there tomorrow morning. My boss sent ME to pick up donuts for all our employees and clients (and our office). She must know I’m qualified for the task. :) I’m sooo excited! Squeeee!

Beyond Glaze is GA-REAT! Well, it looks great anyway. I only tried one thing and I liked it a lot. So I’m assuming everything else is just as superb.

There’s a field trip about doughnuts? How come I didn’t know this? Last field trip I went on was all about cactus and desert creatures, not a single doughnut in sight! :)

So sad – we no longer have KK’s around us here in CA. I love them hot!

This is my plan while on maternity leave…go on mini field trips with Savannah. I am hoping that my goal isn’t too ambitious…but I want to make it happy.

I am surprised you didn’t take them on a cupcake field trip. Donuts are the next best thing. LIttle Adalyn picked out the very one that her grandpa would have picked out.

My son LOVES this. He calls it the Donut Race. We were SO sad when the one in Sandy closed. Now you’ve just given me a wicked craving for Krispie Kremes.
