We weren’t just placed here on this beautiful planet to “exist”. We have to contribute; do our part; help our neighbor; give to others. That’s our civic duty. I look for opportunities to help out where I can.
For example: over the weekend, I helped contribute to the children of Haiti:
100% of proceeds from cupcakes purchased on Saturday went towards donations for children in Haiti. Side note: I highly recommend their “Better Than Whatever” cupcake, or the chocolate pb cup, or the Madagascar vanilla, or the…. not that I ate all those cupcakes! …..what? ….phsst!
No way, because I’m “in training” for an upcoming race:
The Mountain Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring a 5K or 1 mile run/walk to benefit their disaster relief fund. Every applicant will receive a T-shirt, goody bag, and breakfast afterwards. There will even be prizes for the winners. Everyone is welcome so if you’re in the Utah County or surrounding areas, sign up and come run/walk with us!
March 6th at 10:00 am in Provo.
I’ll be the one either trying to squeeze my way through the crowd of runners with a double jogging stroller, or on the side of the course doubled-over trying to breathe. Either way, it will be fun!
Registration cost is $20 adults; $15 students.
Or, leave a comment here, and be entered to win one of TWO registration passes being given away for the race!
Winners will be chosen at random and announced February 14th – to give you time to prepare.
OK, for some reason my links aren’t working. For more info and to register, go to www.runforred.org or become a fan of the “Run for Red” page on Facebook.
I figure it’s a win-win. I get to donate to a good cause, plus I get to work off the cupcakes I ate over the weekend (and this coming weekend)…

Okay…I might could run in this run, and do quite well if someone were dangling one of those cupcakes in front of me while running. Maybe I could come cheer!!!
Sandra
How about Sandra and I win the pair of tickets–I’ll run ahead and dangle the cupcake as long as you’re dangling one for me!
Oh please, please pick me!!! One of my goals for this year is to run a 5k but my husband doesn’t like the fact that you have to pay…
I’d totally be entering this contest if I lived in Utah. 5Ks are exactly the right length for this Arizona mama..!
Why didn’t I know about the free registration? Too late for me but very cool.
OOh, I would love to win a free race entry! I could use a fun 5K to keep me running. I am training for the Wasatch Back this summer, but that seems so far away and I am just getting started again after several months off. Races are a good motivator!
pick me! pick me!! I’ll buy you more cupcakes for after the race!!!!!!!!!
And if anyone needs some running motivators, let’s all meet up at the race event! I could run with you, or you could cheer me across the finish line once you’ve crossed, AND had breakfast!

And then we’ll all eat Hannah’s cupcakes afterwards, and the cupcakes being dangled throughout.
You guys are funny!
I’ve run this 5k before–it’s a great race, lots of participation, and a good cause. A free registration would definitely get me motivated to run it again.
I really want to win this. I wanted to do this run. Hope I win.
You are wonderful, Camille!
I don’t want to win, so please don’t pick me. I just want to say how impressed I am with you and your running abilities. You amaze me with all your races. One day I will be like you. But that day is not today. =)
I would LOVE to come down and run with you guys! Please enter me for this contest! That way I really can go and get one of them cupcakes that I’ve been DYING to try…and if it’s after the race..my body should still be working overtime and burn off all those calories…right?
